The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart trusted him, so I received help. My heart is triumphant; I give thanks to him with my song.

Meditation
My heart was heavy, tethered to a precious burden—my vibrant daughter, brimming with life's zest and on the cusp of its myriad offerings. The advent of dating brought a storm of fears. "Fear not," she'd chirp, her eyes aglow with youthful courage. "Your fearlessness is precisely what stirs my anxiety," I'd retort, the grim edge of a mother's concern lacing my voice.
In moments when your child steps out, beyond the warmth of your embrace, what does one do? Prayer became my refuge, trust my bastion. Into the heavens, my plea ascended, "Guard one I cherish dearly." And the Divine, in infinite kindness, assured me through the tender intercession of Jesus—protection was at hand.
Cruising the mundane stretch of highway the next morn, I petitioned for a heavenly reminder. Yet it was I who was gently chided—reminders were needless; faith was key.
As dawn broke anew and I knelt in solemn dialogue, my words to the Almighty shifted. "I love You," I whispered. And the soft reply came, urging me to profess trust as well. For trust is the fruit of intimacy with the Divine, the courage to lean into the unknown, the dance with God in shadowed spaces.
Reflect
- What can you release instead of carrying into the night?
- What reminder of God’s presence do you want to keep as you rest?
Prayer
Gracious Lord, in the quiet sanctuary of Your presence, I come before You with a mother's heart, tender and yearning for assurance. Like Amy Carmichael's unshakable faith, I seek the strength to stand firm in the face of my fears. With the resilience of Corrie ten Boom, guide me to find peace in Your providence. May the wisdom of Elisabeth Elliot illuminate my path, teaching me to trust not only in the light but also through the night of uncertainty.
Father, as Ann Voskamp finds beauty in the mundane, help me to see Your hand at work in every detail of my daughter's life. With the fervor of Beth Moore, I pray for a spirit that rejoices in surrender, for a heart like Sarah Young's, always listening for Your whispers. Grant me the boldness of Joyce Meyer, the discernment of Priscilla Shirer, the depth of Lysa TerKeurst, and the persistence in prayer of Stormie Omartian.
In every step my daughter takes, cloak her in Your love and wisdom. And in the stillness of my soul, let me hear Your comforting voice, reminding me, "Fear not, for I am with her." May my trust in You be unwavering, my faith unbroken, as I rest in the promise of Your faithful watch. In Jesus' name, Amen.
