There was a time when handbags were merely practical items to me—until the day a lavender London Fog tote caught my eye in a busy TJ Maxx. Its allure was undeniable; its beauty, irresistible. I found myself spellbound, and it dawned on me: when have I last been so utterly transfixed by the magnificence of the Lord?
Reflecting upon the psalms of David, we see a heart captivated. David, amidst his trials and triumphs, was enamored by the steadfast love of God. His yearning was simple yet profound: to dwell in the divine presence every single day, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord, to soak in the sanctuary of His peace, and to contemplate His word which breathes life into our very bones.
This introspection beckons us to examine our own desires. What do we crave with such intensity? Is it the fleeting treasures of this world—possessions, prestige, human connections—or is it the eternal, unmatched beauty of our Creator? If we are not vigilant, the desires of our eyes may ensnare us, leading our hearts away from God and towards the empty idols of our age.
Yet, by immersing ourselves in scripture, recalling His unwavering faithfulness, and allowing His beauty to captivate our hearts, we gradually shift our devotion. As we grow more enchanted with God's splendor, our lives naturally align more closely with His will, guiding us to live not for our own pleasure, but for His.
